Mud Eagle Performance Horses

Alissa has been on a horse for the better part of 30 years having grown up on a ranch in the mountains of Colorado where good horsemanship was a necessity. She began training client's horses in high school where she refined and added to her skill set. She has trained horses in and/or competed in most western disciplines, hunter under saddle, cross country, jumping and racing.
Colorado State University is where Alissa obtained her degree in Equine Science while continuing to train horses, compete in college rodeos, and participate in Air Force ROTC. Following college she commissioned into the United States Air Force where she served full time for 8 years. All the while, she continued to haul her string of horses around the country to compete in barrel racing and breed and raise new prospects.
Now established in Pikeville, NC, Alissa is back into the horse training business full time. She believes that every horse is unique and there isn't one training model that is exactly the same for every horse. All colts are started with ground work in a round pen where they learn to yield to pressure. Their first ride is with a rope around their neck, they then move on to a bosal, followed by a D-ring snaffle bit. The end product is a horse that is responsive to seat, leg and hand movements and one that trusts its rider.
