I have been all over the 805 and 818 learning how to groom since the beginning of 2006. I started off bathing dogs. 3 months in I was asked if I wanted to start cutting their hair. I kind of smiled not knowing if it was for me. I love animals so I thought what the heck, I can play with dogs all day. Little did I know, dog/cat grooming was so much more involved than I thought. It was okay because I always have liked a challenge. So off I went to a grooming academy for two months. I had my nose in books and hair for 60 days straight. By the time I got back to the salon from the academy I had my tools and the basics to be able to start my field training. From the get-go, I was dealing with dogs that just did not like being groomed. They hated the comb, they hated the nail trimmer and they hated being handled. I stood there for hours trying to figure out how to safely give a dog his/her breed cut with the extremely sharp tools I had in my hands. After a few months I hit a plateau. I wanted to learn more. I went to different salons asking owners if they could teach me and in return I would work for them for free. I promised I would keep an open mind. Some did not agree, but some did. The ones that did usually just payed me in tips. I was grateful. I continued my journey through all kinds of salons from the 805 to the 818. Each and every owner had her own style. I took in as much as they could teach me. I wanted to learn more! Just two years into my training I realized I was training others. I thought to myself, what am I doing??? I am still learning myself! I believe I will never stop learning. Every animal is different, every cut is custom. Any breed. Any need. Any age. Any need!
