The Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers (NLOE) was founded in June 1983. We moved into our first home, the Medical Arts Building on Wolcott Road in Levittown Long Island, New York in December 1983. It was here that we built one of the largest O-Gauge model railroads in the country. After 17 consecutive years of building our railroad and brightening the holiday season for thousand of parents and wide-eyed children, at our 15 annual holiday shows, the building was sold, our lease was terminated and we were forced to moved.
The good news is that we found a new home in Levittown less then a mile from where we were. The club is over 40 members strong with a few of the original members remaining. After over 25 years as a club, we are now in the process of building a new O-Gauge model railroad almost double the size of the original with the new dimensions of 80 feet by 35 feet.
