DC Metro Chapter, NASW, is one of 56 administrative units of the National Association of Social Workers. It provides local visibility for NASW membership and recruitment, participates in national advocacy initiatives and ethics adjudications, and provides information on NASW policies and services, both to members and social work consumers. Locally, the chapter sponsors continuing education programs, including a biennial conference, and maintains a CE Approval program, authorized by the DC Board of Social Work. The chapter participates in community advocacy related to social justice issues, makes annual awards, and supports collegial networking through the Executive Director or through the use of chapter social media sites, i.e. Facebook, Linked In, and Twitter. The chapter publishes a NewsReport twice a year as well as quarterly electronic NewsWires and weekly Listserv announcements. Chapter committees provide opportunities for members to participate in local leadership. Check out our website at www.naswmetro.org
