Nathanael Barn is named for Nathanael Greene, the second-greatest general of the Revolutionary Way (after George Washington, of course). Before moving to its current, warmer locale, Nathanael Barn lived for 170 years in Greenville, a town located in Greene County, New York (in the Hudson River Valley). Both Greenville and Greene County are named after General Nathanael Greene, so we have chosen to do the same for our barn to keep alive the memory of this great American patriot. History will come alive while you stay with us, whether from feeling the barn’s authentic hand-hewn logs or by indulging in our extensive library of Nathanael Greene biographies.

Located on the edge of Washington and Fayette counties, Nathanael Barn is perfectly situated to explore the charm of Brenham, Round Top, Fayetteville, and the surrounding areas. The barn is less than four miles to the Winedale Historical Complex, where you can catch a summer Shakespeare performance. Enjoy the music at the Round Top Festival Institute, dancing at the Stone Cellar, Texas folk art at The Copper Shade Tree, pie at Royer’s, and all the other charms of Round Top, just nine miles away. And, come Antiques Week, the La Bahia Antiques Show (the start of the show trail on Texas 237) is less than five miles away.
