I consider myself a naturalist first and foremost. I love to be in and around the natural world and show people how amazing it is. Second, I am a practicing scientist. I am currently studying how a bumblebee gut parasite gets reduced, or not, when we fed certain types of pollen to individual bees. This is my Masters degree work being conducted at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst under the advising of Dr. Lynn Adler who specializes in plant-insect interactions. We are looking at how sunflower pollen reduces a gut parasite in the eastern common bumblebee.
