Naugatuck Valley Project (NVP) was created in 1983 by a diverse set of religious, community and labor sponsoring organizations, concerned about the wave of plant closings in the predominantly industrial Naugatuck Valley.
NVP brings together people from congregations, labor union locals and community organizations across lines of religion, geography, age, ethnicity and economic status to build relationships, discover common concerns, develop leadership skills and take effective action for social justice in one of the oldest industrial regions in the country, home to more than 55,000 new immigrants and serious urban poverty. NVP helps congregations and organizations act on their gospel and democratic values in the civic square.
