Nauti Boat Detailing

My love of the water and boating began on the Patuxent River as a little girl. I was fortunate enough that my family always had a boat. It began with a 14 foot outboard, to a 28 ft. cabin cruiser my parents purchased when I was 18. After high school, I couldn't decide what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I decided to enter the work force and fore-go college. I used to tease my parents that the 28 footer should be named Kelli's College! After my husband and I moved to southern Charles County, located on the Potomac River, we made our first purchase. It was a little 18.5 foot cuddie, we proudly named C.A.V.U. Too. In honor of my dad. The name is an aviators term that means Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited (a glorious day), as my fathers pride and joy 28 footer was C.A.V.U. Kelli's College didn't even make the list. He would have loved the fact that I too posses his passion for boating and couldn't imagine my life without owning a boat.

For 6 years, I washed her, waxed her and adored her...and it showed. Even being an older boat, she gleamed. C.A.V.U Too was my practice boat. I learned through trial and error how to properly detail a boat. Our current boat for the past 5 years, my pride and joy, is a Sea Ray Sundeck 240 we proudly named Sea Fore. I spend countless hours making sure she is among the cleanest and shiniest of boats on the river. Boating is my passion and protecting our investment is my goal.

One evening last summer, a fellow marina member saw me once again washing Sea Fore. He approached me and said "You know, if you ever decide to do this as a business, please let me know. You have the ability, talent and drive it takes when it comes to detailing and it shows." This comment rang a bell with me instantly. I love boats, I love being outdoors, I love being around the boating community, I enjoy physically challenging work and I have a keen eye for detail. Why not use what I have learned!

I did some research and found out about a boat detailing company in Seattle (Deckhand Detailing) that offers hand's on boat detail training courses. I contacted them for more information and decided it was just what I needed to learn about the professional side of detailing. I flew out to Seattle and trained with their crew for several days and learned a lot. I'm now ready to take that knowledge and start detailing boats professionally.
