New Beginnings Learning Academy was originally located on Bennett Street in Middletown, NY. The four-classroom school was originally named Stepping Stones. In 1996, Stepping Stones experienced a financial decline resulting in the selling of the building and business. Nicola Parrotta, the school's present owner, purchased the school with only thirty students enrolled. The name was changed from Stepping Stones to New Beginnings so as to foreshadow the start of a child’s education.
Due to rapidly increasing enrollment, it was time for a bigger, new location. In 1998, the old Albert Street School building was purchased from the City of Middletown. The brand new location opened its doors to the community on January 4, 1999.
With dedication to each individual child, the school now has a student population of over 200 enrolled students during the academic year and up to 100 children during the Summer Program.
