Newman YMCA's Shooting Stars School of Dance

In September of 2009 the Newman YMCA started its first ever progressive dance program, known today as Shooting Stars School of Dance. Classes are offered for toddlers through adult, for beginners through advanced, and in a variety of different genres.

Shooting Stars School of Dance is located approximately 0.1 miles from the Newman YMCA at 600 Taunton Avenue, Seekonk, MA MA and provides quality dance training for beginner to advanced students of all ages in a fun and safe environment. YMCA members and non-members are all invited to attend.

This program has been designed to teach children to dance with the values of the YMCA in mind. The focus of this program is to help children build confidence, establish good dance technique, and maintain a healthy lifestyle through physical movement, while focusing on the YMCA values: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, CARING, and HONESTY.

All of our staff are qualified to teach a variety of abilities and ages and have years of experience. Our staff have danced collegiately, competitively, pre/professionally, and have taught and trained at other local schools. Some are pursuing or have received degrees in dance, including our Dance Director, Ashlee Bourque, who holds a B.A. in Dance.
