Join the celebration! The 60th Annual Newport Loyalty Days & Sea Fair Festival takes place from April 28 - May 1, 2016. This year's theme is the Value of Liberty and the jam-packed schedule offers something for everyone.
Originally started in the late 1930s to boost tourism with a free Dungeness crab dinner and ultimately combined with the nationwide Loyalty Day celebration that American Legion Post #116 introduced to Newport in May 1956 and that President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially signed into law in May 1958.
Over the years, our festival has evolved to include a traditional hometown parade, numerous Veterans and Active Duty tributes/celebrations/activities - including the annual "Reading of the Names" and the Traveling Oregon Memorial Wall, a Loyalty Days & Sea Fair Festival Court and Queen's Coronation, the popular Davis Shows Northwest Family Carnival, a Coast Hills Fun Run and Mr. Bill’s Traveling Trivia Show at the Rogue (Bayfront).
