The Pitkin family has been sugaring in Cabot and Marshfield since about 1796, and we hope to keep the tradition alive! My brother-in-law, Brock Miller and I joined our father-in-law, Caleb Pitkin in his sugar making business two years ago. Pitkin Farms Maple Syrup is, without a doubt, the best syrup you will ever taste.
We have about 2000 taps as of this season, using both pipeline and traditional buckets. This year, because of our increase in taps, we're trying something new; a Reverse Osmosis Machine. This machine concentrates the sap, cutting down boil time and wood needed to fire the arch.
We always welcome visitors to stop by and see the process and sample our product as fresh as it gets. No sugar on snow this year but fingers crossed for next year!
