Center City is a collection of diverse urban neighborhoods located in and surrounding Charlotte’s vibrant central business district. They offer some of the city’s top cultural, sports and dining destinations.
Housing options range from high-rise condominiums to stately turn-of-the-century Victorian homes to houses for singles and growing families. These communities are highly walkable and many are close to Charlotte’s popular Lynx Blue Line, a light rail system that connects Uptown with Pineville, a suburb to the south. The line also is being extended north to UNC Charlotte.
Businesses range from design firms and independent retail shops to government centers and some of the country’s most influential financial, real estate, engineering and legal services companies. Also located in Center City: Bank of America Stadium, home to the Carolina Panthers, and Spectrum Center, home to the Charlotte Hornets and the venue for concerts and other events. Cultural venues include the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, NASCAR Hall of Fame, Discovery Place, ImaginOn, the Mint Museum Uptown, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture.
