Nine Mile Farm

We are an Organic CSA. Community Supported Agriculture is a unique collaboration connecting people to a local farm and farmer. When you become a CSA member, you agree to support the costs of running the farm in exchange for a share of the harvest. By contributing a membership fee in advance, you become a partner with the farmer in sharing some of the risk as well as the bounty of agricultural production.

In 2011, we started Nine Mile Farm CSA with just 25 shares. Rebekah and her dad Michael planted their first organic garden together in 1964, when Rebekah was 10 years old. Both have had gardens and/or farms ever since. Rebekah began to incorporate permaculture practices in 2003 in farming with her partner John. Rebekah and John met Erin while she was running a CSA four years ago at a schoolyard in Alaska. Since then Erin studied agriculture and cooperative economics at UMass Amherst. Her enthusiasm is contagious and we are looking forward to our most fun and productive year ever.

For over 20 years at Nine Mile Farm we’ve been using agricultural practices consistent with the best practices for organic certification (NOFA Pledge). We grow heirloom varieties, because they taste great, and add whatever minerals are needed for the most nutrient-dense vegetables possible. We prefer to use deep mulches, companion cropping, and natural pest controls. We do not use herbicides or pesticides. In fact, we eat our edible weeds, and we hope that you’ll enjoy them too.
We send weekly emails to let you know how the garden is doing and to share recipes and ideas for using whatever we are harvesting.
