Norco Library

Surrounded by growing and developing cities is the small animal keeping town of Norco, affectionately known as “Horsetown USA.” The heart of the community is the Norco Library and it has been designated as “America’s Horse Library.” The library houses a unique and extensive collection of equine-related materials consisting of books, magazines and horse training DVDs. The library has been serving a community of avid readers, animal lovers, plant growers, horse owners and trainers for many years. July 2015 marked the 85th year that the library has been a part of the community which started with a few tables and volunteers in a small community room. Built in 1920, the library building on Old Hamner was originally a real estate office, a bank and then the former city hall. The library provides for the needs of 26,000 residents and also extends services to the growing and diverse neighboring communities. The library offers over 30 programs monthly from Spanish Bilingual Storytime, children reading to therapy dogs to knitting club, book club and ESL classes.

Norco Library reaches out to the community and presents storytimes to public and private schools, a food distribution center and Christmas parties. The library’s community room provides a meeting place for local community groups and organizations such as the 4-H clubs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops. Students and tutors of various ages use the library as a study area for lessons and instructions. The atmosphere of the library is friendly, warm and cozy.
