North End Community Improvement Collaborative (NECIC)

Established in 2006 as an organization positioned to support grassroots and other community initiated efforts, NECIC functions as a "transformative convener" on the North End of Mansfield, Ohio, working to educate, socialize, organize and mobilize citizens of Mansfield's North End. Using the Asset Based Community Development model, focusing on a region's strengths rather than its weaknesses, NECIC developed a strategic plan in2008, which highlights three main areas of concentration: community economic development, youth development, leadership development and organizing. Through this plan, NECIC developed its mission and vision statements.
