More about North River Massage Therapy of Maine

Sarah Bound Grosse is Nationally, Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and bodywork (BCTMB), and has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2009. After completing an Intensive 900 hour Muscular Therapy Licensing Program in Boston, MA at Dr. Ben Benjamin’s Muscular Therapy Institute (now Cortiva Institute), Sarah then focused her training over the years on learning to help those whom suffer from chronic pain or repetitive structural tissue system injuries. Sarah became fascinated with structural balance and imbalance, movement or lack of movement, and how the connected tissue systems were involved. After years of personal injuries, massage therapy client interactions, and life, Sarah is convinced each person's health relies in what they eat or don't eat, and how they are able to move or not move, combined with the life patterns that help us or hurt us, impacting our ability to move or not move, effecting our overall health since it is all connected.

Sarah has advanced training in Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Myofascial Release, Visceral Manipulation, Complicated Cervical Conditions, Releasing Spinal Bends, Sports Massage Therapy and Active Isolated Stretching, Visual Body Reading, Gailt Reading & Range of Motion Testing Training, Advanced Training for Pelvic Stabilization and Complicated Knee Conditions, and Advanced Training in Upper & Lower Body Conditions and Injuries, and Treatments for Tension Headaches, Neck and Jaw issues.

Sarah has a passion and mission to help those whom suffer with constant discomfort and pain or lack of mobility; as she knows from experience what it is like as she HAD a frozen shoulder for 12 years resulting in chronic migraines. Once Sarah's injury had set in, she was barely able to move without pain before massage therapy changed that and allowed her to move again so her body could heal. Sarah uses a combination of all her training so that the massage sessions concentrate in helping clients become more self-aware of mechanical and biological options to help manage and release complicated, chronic, structural-fascial system patterns and injuries, so that balance and a natural healing progression are conceivable. So that movement can occur without pain, and people can live a higher quality of life by empowering themselves to move to heal.
Sarah is certified by American Red Cross in Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED, an AMTA Member since 2009 (American Massage Therapy Association), and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of New Hampshire with a second emphasis in Psychology and Marketing.

Before Sarah changed her career into therapeutic manual therapy to help people almost 7 years ago, she spent 18 years in the corporate world serving in operational and management roles in customer service, company branding & marketing, quality control and training, and computers and software system integration and training within the lighting design and specification world imbedded in the commercial lighting and electrical industry.
