<>Healthcare Workforce Development<>
While our main focus is on enhancing access to primary care (family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, and psychiatry), we are working to improve the supply, distribution, retention, quality and efficiency of all health professionals.
-Recruiting
Recruitment begins early! We work with local high school and college students through our Health Career Discovery programs that introduce them to the many possibilities in the healthcare field. We have a particular interest in increasing the number of individuals from local underserved communities and minority populations who enter primary care and allied health professions.
-Training
We place and support health professions students and residents, training in our region, with local health professionals to give them meaningful experiences in our communities. We encourage these young health professionals to return and practice in our region when they complete their training. We also play an active role in developing and implementing Interprofessional Education initiatives.
-Retaining
We support health professionals practicing in our region through continuing education programs and networking opportunities. We often partner with other community organizations who share our vision of widely available access to healthcare and a strong, qualified and efficient healthcare workforce.

Along with our efforts to promote a strong healthcare workforce for our region, we also provide community based health education programs designed to help improve the quality of health for people in our region
-Traveling Trunks
Traveling Trunks are used to conduct children's health education programs. Traveling Trunk programs include: “Be A Detective: Poison Prevention”, “Color me Healthy”, “Farm Safety 4 Kids”, “Health & The Human Body”, Healthy Hands”, “Hear Your Heart”, “Heart Power”, “Miles of Smiles: Dental Health”, “Nutritional Toolkit”, “One Two Buckle My Shoe (Physical Activity & Nutrition Awareness)”, “Shape Up”, “Sticks & Stones: Muscles & Bones”, and many more.
-Making Healthy Choices
Making Healthy Choices adult health education programs address the regions high rates of diseases such as Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Obesity, and other related maladies. These programs focus on disease control and prevention though Nutrition, Physical Activity, Tobacco Cessation, Awareness and Preventative Care.
