Northern NE Society of Addiction Medicine

The Northern New England Society of Addiction Medicine is a professional society. We are the regional chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. We represent over 90 physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the field of addiction medicine in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. We are dedicated to increasing access to care and improving the quality of addiction treatment, educating other medical clinicians and the public, and supporting research and prevention. We understand that addiction is a disease of the brain, with physical, emotional, social and spiritual manifestations. Like other chronic diseases, addiction often involves cycles of relapse and remission. Without treatment and engagement in recovery activities, addiction is progressive and can result in disability or premature death.
