The Historical Society is busy planning a variety of programs and special events for 2013. Details on these will be forthcoming in the near future.

The museum is open March – December, Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. Group tours are by appointment only. To make a reservation, call the office Monday through Friday, at 570-286-4083.

The Northumberland County Historical Society was established in 1925 and is dedicated to encouraging and preserving interest in the history of the county. It is headquartered in the Hunter House on the site of old Fort Augusta at 1150 N. Front St., Sunbury, with a museum focusing on artifacts of significance to the fort and the history of the county. The Hunter House is also the location of the Charlotte Darrah Walter Genealogical Library.
