NAVDA was born out of the desire of the Fayetteville Noon Lion’s Club to re-establish a parade honoring our countries heroes. In 1999, the first parade in 25 years in the city of Fayetteville was planned, organized, funded, and executed by the Fayetteville Lion’s Club. The following year the Lion’s Club decided not to have the event, so a group of local citizens that were interested in carrying on this new tradition took up the task. Out of this core group of citizens, the Northwest Arkansas Veterans Day Association was born. The organization gained non-profit status in 2002.
