Do It Together!
Right now we are a spearhead collective focused on organizing a radical arts and media center in Sarasota, FL. Many of us are students and alumni of New College of Florida, but we hope to get involved with others in our community interested in organizing! "Do It Together" is our ethos. Nothing Arts is collectively run by volunteers through consensus-based organizing and a drive toward decentralization of volunteership, to smooth out the success of Nothing Arts.


Art, Music, Community Praxis
Nothing Arts is located right near SCF, NCF, RCAD and downtown Sarasota. We are renovating and improving the space constantly and always looking forward to improvements. The location is currently set up to display local art, hold movie nights (where you can live score a silent film, too!) and host performances. We intend for the events to be All Ages, with substance free events frequently organized. We're open for anyone to organize their own event! It is important to us to provide a very inclusive and safe space in the Sarasota landscape. Our hope is to provide a venue to showcase and prioritize members of the Sarasota community. Many of the starting members of Nothing Arts understand the difficulty involved in creating an inclusive space in a diverse community (especially in regards to musical endeavors, showcases, and performance art). Nothing Arts regards diversity and inclusivity as foundational to our success as a community oriented art space, as well as our success as people.


All-Ages
We are committed to providing a space for local youth to learn, create connections, and foster community through art and music. We provide a safe space with weekly open hours - besides a music and art space, we want to be a rec center and a media center for young people.

Radical Resource Center
The space includes a Free Store and an ever expanding zine library/resource center exploring the themes of feminism, LGBTQ politics, anti-capitalism, activism, mental health, DIY and collective organizing as well as a variety of 'academic' topics from genetics to roman history, encyclopedias on entomology, critical theory, or even just a good novella! We hope to have a good group of guests regularly sifting through our collections and expanding them as well.

Safe(r) Space
We stress the ‘Together’ in DIT. Without that, we have just your typical exclusive and inaccessible (not to mention expensive) arts space. Nothing Arts is committed to providing a safe(r) space to fight discrimination, stigmatization and oppression on a community scale. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, classist, ableist or ageist speech/action is not tolerated. We are not in the business of hurting our community, rather we wish to build its future.
