About the Promoter Lonnie Teper:

Lonnie Teper, an award-winning writer and master of ceremonies, has been covering the bodybuilding and fitness scene for over 25 years.

Teper started his career with IRON MAN Magazine in 1986, and since that time has reported on all aspects of the industry. His popular "News and Views" column has appeared in every issue of IRON MAN since it began circulation with the January, 1987 issue.

Teper, an Editor-at-Large at IM, is the most prolific emcee in the history of the industry, hosting over 80 IFBB professional contests and about 250 NPC events. At the Academy of Bodybuilding and Fitness Awards in the 1990s, Teper was honored as winner of "Best Column", "Best Feature Story" and "Best Emcee".

He's been the host of the Mr. Olympia and the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic, and was at the podium at the IRON MAN PRO for its entire 20-year history. Teper recently emceed the NPC Nationals for the 18th consecutive year, and has hosted the NPC USA Championships every year but one since 1992. Teper will be at his familiar spot as the emcee of the IRON MAN Magazine Naturally this weekend.

Teper is also an NPC promoter; he began by creating the Cal Collegiates in 1999, and currently produces the West Coast Classic, a National qualifying event held in June (npcwestcoast.com).

Teper, who graduated cum laude from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Journalism/Radio/TV, also has a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Cal State Los Angeles, where he was honored as the "Outstanding Graduate Student." He taught both Journalism and Physical Education at Cal State L.A, and he's currently a member of the Department of Kinesiology, Health and Athletics Department at Pasadena City College and East Los Angeles College.
