Oakland Uhuru Movement

The Uhuru Movement people worldwide for African self-determination and self-reliance. This page promotes activities and events in the Oakland and Northern California area.

The Uhuru Movement includes organizations & institutions of the African People's Socialist Party, such as Akwaaba Hall, Uhuru Furniture and Uhuru Foods. The Uhuru House, home of Akwaaba Hall was opened in 1984 at 7911 MacArthur Blvd., Oakland.

Uhuru Furniture has been located at 3742 Grand Avenue in Oakland since 1989. It is an institution of the African People's Education and Defense Fund.

Uhuru Foods & Pies is an economic development institution of Black Star Industries, operating in California and other locations since 1979.

Volunteers are invited to participate in the economic institutions.
