OBX Frozen Yogurt

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a burning desire to own and operate my own business. Isn’t that often the case with most people at some point in their lives? I mean, why WOULDN’T you want to call the shots and reap the benefits of your own hard work, right? I’ve crafted plans, stayed up till all hours of the night identifying opportunities that weren’t being realized, dreamed up ideas, and brainstormed ideas with friends … but for several reasons (or perhaps we can call them excuses), I’ve never acted on that dream. But still, the desire burned …

I’m a firm believer that timing is so important in this "game" we call life … and that things always happen for a reason, even if it doesn't seem so immediately. When I learned about the opportunity to acquire OBX Frozen Yogurt, I was immediately intrigued. Was this potentially THE opportunity for me to realize that professional dream? There were several ‘pros,’ a few big ‘questions,’ and a lot of hours spent “on the fence.”

A wise friend told me a few months ago that there is no “dipping your toe in the water” if you’re going to be an entrepreneur, and he’s right. With my decision to purchase OBX Frozen Yogurt from our friends, Cindy and Dan Haynes, I jumped head-first into this opportunity and instantly became “all in!”

Those who have been around me for any period of time, know that I strive for excellence in everything that I do … and sometimes, to a fault, perfection. My desire to not only continue the positive momentum that this business has realized over the past three years, but to propel OBX Frozen Yogurt to be the most customer-focused, creative, fun, welcoming, and tasty “destination treat shop” on the Outer Banks fuels my fire every day as a local business owner. With an expanded footprint in our new location at Southern Shores Crossing (next to Southern Shores Pizza and between STEAMERS and Coastal Provisions), I’m thrilled to say that our expanded retail mix will stretch beyond frozen yogurt to also include ice cream, candy, craft sodas, and juices, as well as creative twists on smoothies, shakes, floats, hot chocolates, coffee, and more.

To say that I’m beyond excited for this entrepreneurial challenge is an understatement. I know that this will be the hardest work of my career … and the most rewarding. Jenn, Kaitlyn, and I truly appreciate all of incredible support and well wishes from family and friends, both near and far. Your belief in me … and my entrepreneurial dreams … means more than you’ll ever know.
