Occasionally Knotty Knitting, Crochet, and Needles Things

Once upon a time, there was a wonderful group of fiber artists that would meet, stitch, laugh, and generally have a good time on Tuesday evenings. Despite locations closing, a core group continued to find a way to see each other.

Then came the dark times. Drama descended and the joy that was felt was replaced by expectations, rules, overpriced snacks, and an utter disregard for the written language. (OK, so that may have been only me.) With this came a call from the core group- Hey, Chick! Don't you have a shop where we can meet? When will the shop be ready?

So, back in November of 2014, despite the shop being far from ready, several of us started meeting in the building that has been in my family for three generations. The building is old and drafty, but the people are warm and crafty. (Lame, but it almost rhymes.)

If you like to stitch.

If you like to laugh.

If you can tell a joke- and take one.

We have Chicks with Sticks (knitters), Happy Hookers (crocheters), and a couple of Pricks (cross-stitch and embroidery). Besides fiber arts, if you have questions about woodworking, auto mechanics, or metal work, we also have the resident expert who pops in with a nightly joke. Fortunately, his skills as a craftsman are much better than his jokes.

But don't feel limited: there are table tops and plenty of room. Who knows? Maybe we'll have a 'not ready for prime-time' quilting bee; we have the room for the quilting frame.

We meet every Tuesday evening from about 5:30 until we are pooped out- usually around 9:30. Bring your own drinks, dinner, snacks, or whatever. In colder weather, bring a lap throw, as our building is old. Some weeks folks bring in a dish to share. You just never know: we are a friendly group and most of us like to cook, too!
