Escape to OKI Haven...it's time to relax, unwind, take a breath in a cozy 3 bedroom 2 bath cottage on pilings in the quiet, wooded area of the island. Our home is just a walk or bike ride to the recreation center or the beach via the scenic walkway at the end of our street! At the end of our driveway take a look to the left & you just might see a sailboat making it’s way up the Intracoastal Waterway. Enjoy the sounds of Mother Nature from the front porch, on the glider swing or laying in the hammock. Feel free to bring your boat - the driveway is wide and long. The area has 3 free public boat ramps with the closest one at NE 54th. You can access the more than 60 free parking beach access points via SE 40th Street. This is a family friendly beach with no high-rises, few condos and a limited commercial area - it rarely seems crowded even with the 50 places to dine from Southport & Oak Island.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Our home is on the north side of the island, what's called the 'wooded' section. It runs alongside the ICW versus the ocean. For enjoyable walks or bike rides, I suggest going down the tree lined Yacht Drive. You'll have glimpses of the ICW all along this route. Rent bikes or kayaks at a nearby retailer or bring yours along. THE HOME
Our home is currently a 3 bedroom 2 full bathroom (adding an additional bedroom & bath downstairs in the future) on pilings with 2 covered parking spaces under the home & a long wide drive with extra space in front of the house. The front porch faces east toward several mature trees to enjoy your morning coffee in the sun. We have a washer/dryer downstairs along with full size freezer for your use. We have a newly installed outdoor hot and cold water shower.
This home has an open floor plan between the living room & kitchen. The living room has a sectional that could sleep 2 with a chair and ceiling fan. A flat screen TV with Direct satellite rests in one corner with DVD and VCR. High speed internet with Wi-Fi is available for your use.
The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator/freezer/ice maker, coffee maker, stove/oven, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee cups, glass wear, silver wear, wine glasses and all other standard necessities for the kitchen.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a closet, celling fan, two night stands, 2 dressers with flat screen satellite TV that adjoins a full bathroom with vanity. There is a second full bathroom down the hallway. One spare bedroom has two night stands, ceiling fan & a closet with queen size bed. The other spare bedroom has a queen size bed with recliner, table & 2 night stands, celling fan & closet.
We provide blankets and pillows, a limited supply of bath and kitchen hand towels and bed linens. If you need linens there is an extra charge of $65.00.

THINGS TO DO

Oak Island has 65 public beach accesses as well as fishing docks & 2 piers, boat ramps &
many other access points to the ICW & Davis Canal making this the perfect location for fishing,
boating, kayaking & other water activities. Call the Adventure Company (910) 454-0607 to rent kayaks- go explore our creeks and marshes. OKI also has a municipal golf course and eight
parks, ranging from a fishing T at the west end of the island to a large park on the mainland
complete with baseball and football fields. There is a skate park, a dog park, a cabana on
the oceanfront with an observation deck and plenty of places to find a quiet spot to relax
and enjoy the view. You are less than one hour from Myrtle Beach, 30 minutes from
Wilmington, NC and 10 minutes from shopping & dinning in Historic Southport, NC.

STORES / RESTAURANTS

The island has a Food Lion grocery store located on Oak Island Drive and SE 59th St.
plus there's a Lowes Foods and Wal-Mart on the mainland. Oak Island & Southport has some great Restaurants just to name a few of our favorites: Island Way (nice dinner), Shagger Jacks (lunch & dinner), Turtle Island (dinner), Dead End Saloon (late night/lunch), Joseph’s Italian (Southport) & Taco’s at Flying Fish Café. Taylors & Russell’s & BBQ House for breakfast!

LOGGERHEAD TURTLES

Nesting season starts in mid-May and turtle eggs hatch later in the fall. Our turtle nests
are Federally protected so please be mindful. Be sure to fill in any deep holes you dig
on the beach and remove all your personal property when you leave so the turtles can
reach their nesting site without obstacles.

Did you know Oak Island is a south facing beach? You can watch sunrises AND sunsets
from our beach!!! Plus we have a lighthouse, a Coast Guard Station, a public golf
course, several churches, and an awesome local airport, Cape Fear Regional Jetport.

SOUTHPORT / BALD HEAD ISLAND / FT. FISHER FERRY

Historic Southport is a maritime village located only fifteen minutes away on the
mainland. It sits at the confluence of the Cape Fear River, the Intracoastal and the
Atlantic. Watch the container ships, sailboats, fishing vessels, powerboats, kayaks and
the like from Waterfront Park. Plus Southport has a wide array of restaurants and
shopping to offer you and the family. Drive to the Deep Point Marina and catch the passenger ferry to Bald Head for a great day trip. No cars are allowed. You can rent a golf cart, tour the island and have a nice lunch before heading back. Or catch the Ft. Fisher Ferry and for $5 per car, take a trip to the other side of the Cape Fear and visit the aquarium or the Wilmington beach communities of Kure, Carolina and
Wrightsville Beach.

CHECK OUT CLEANING PROCEDURE

Our cleaning service does the customary cleaning, but we respectfully ask that you clean up any mess that you or your guests have created. The minimum cleaning charge of $75 is required of all guests with no exceptions. Please remember that you are responsible for your guests behavior.

Beds- Please remove linens and place them in a pile on the floor next to bed. Please replace comforters and pillows neatly on the beds.

Towels- Leave all towels and wash cloths (wet or dry) in bathroom. There is a $10 per bed charge if beds are not stripped.

Floors- Please sweep, vacuum floors only as needed. Please leave all sandy shoes and socks at the front door. Mop, vacuum & broom are located downstairs near washer & dryer.

Kitchen- Please wipe down kitchen areas used and remove all food from refrigerator and freezer and wipe out.

Dishes- Please wash, dry and put away all from the sink we do not have a dishwasher. *There is a $35 charge if dishes are not washed and /or put away. If you put away dirty plates you will incur the same charge.

You may choose to bring your linens or you may choose the linen service for $65, (includes sheets for the bed and 2 bath towels, a hand towel and 2 wash cloths per person).

Please bring your own beach towels, cooler, beach chairs & beach toys.

To calculate your rate please add 12.75% tax to the number of nights you have chosen. Then add the $200 refundable security deposit.

Please allow 14 days for the security deposit to be returned.
