Old Friends at Kentucky Downs

Old Friends at Kentucky Downs is a unique partnership between Old Friends, Kentucky Downs Race Track and Simpson County Tourism. It is the first thoroughbred retirement home located at a race track in the country.

Visiting Information
Old Friends at Kentucky Downs is open all year. Tours are offered daily, 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Later tours will be offered during warmer months.

Travelers on nearby I-65 are encouraged to stop in any day. (You’re in Kentucky; why not see some horses?) On bad weather days or major holidays, it’s a good idea to call first. Old Friends at Kentucky Downs is a unique outdoor activity suitable for people of all ages.

Come on out and visit our equine retirees! Feed them carrots, take some photos and visit the gift shop. Tours are $5.00 per person, children are $2.50 and children under 6 are free. All proceeds collected for tours and gift shop items goes directly to care for the horses. Donations are gratefully accepted. Tours are given at designated times.
