ONE Team

One WPC is a non-profit, year-round age group water polo program designed to prepare boys and girls (ages 8 to 18) for high school competition and develop teams to compete at the national level. While we are passionate about winning games, our focus is on helping ALL of our players reach their fullest potential. We naturally want our all-stars to shine for college recruiters, but it is equally important to us that each and every participant’s skill level improves. We offer multiple teams at each age group and have a place for players of any experience level. We have coaches dedicated to teaching absolute beginners, and others who specialize in helping experienced players evolve into elite caliber athletes. At ONE, players of all levels are given the chance to play in tournaments and competitions.

We are extremely TEAM driven. Our strategy is to transition strong individual skills into a comprehensive team framework. Our players learn to understand the flow of the game and the paramount importance of everyone working together to reach the collective goal.

ONE Vision

At One WPC, we teach players how to out-think their opponents rather than “out-brawn” them. Our drills are designed to foster creativity and confidence in the face of adversity. We help our students to better understand the strategies and skills required for each position. For beginners, our coaches specialize in breaking down complex movements and game theory into simple concepts that can easily be absorbed. We persistently reinforce solid fundamentals and pick away at bad habits. For more advanced players, we offer a deeper analysis of scenarios that commonly arise in the game and offer alternative techniques for overcoming these challenges. More importantly, we focus on “why we perform a skill” and not just “how we perform it”. Exercises slowly evolve from repetitive body mechanic drills to more “free-form” tasks encouraging intuition and on-the-spot resourcefulness. ONE water polo players do not freeze in high-pressure situations, they take advantage of them.

However, our purpose is not just to develop elite level water polo players. Our hope is to also form a foundation from which these players can learn to become responsible young adults. We teach the virtues of effort, commitment, accountability, responsibility, cooperation, and teamwork. We help our players to challenge themselves mentally, physically and emotionally. We inspire them to step outside their comfort zone, work with others, and expanding their skillsets. As coaches, we don’t measure our success solely by the number of games we win, but by the amount each player improves and learns to love the game.

ONE Family

One WPC is not just a water polo program; it’s also a family. No matter the experience/ability level, all members of our team are equal. We treat each other with respect, listen to each other, and serve each other the best we can. We practice good sportsmanship and hold ourselves to the highest standards of fair play.

There is a sense of community in everything we do. We regularly engage in bonding activities outside of the pool including camping trips, paintball excursions, trips to amusement parks, community service projects and team dinners hosted at family’s homes. We also offer optional international training trips. Last year 24 of us travelled to Hungary and worked out with some of the best players/coaches in the world. This year our 16U Boys team is going to Malta to be instructed by a Series A1 professional coach. Our parents are integral participants in the program and accompany us in all of these activities.
