What is a House of Prayer?

“The house of prayer is a place of encounter with God (dwelling place), created by the vehicle of worship, prayer, and intercession. From this place of encounter, the kingdom of God is released into our cities”.

Foundation... God longs to dwell with man
The house of prayer concept is nothing new... rather, it's ancient in the heart of God. Since the beginning of time, Yahweh God has longed to dwell with man. In His desire, He tells Moses, "construct a sanctuary for Me, that I may dwell (tabernacle) among them" (Ex. 25:8).

From the garden to the final resting place of the New Jerusalem, His main objective is clearly seen- to have a people who enjoy (face to face) relationship with Him as He enjoys the same with us. As we see in the first and second coming of Jesus, He longs for unhindered communion with His creation (mankind). He will stop at nothing to establish His dwelling place!

Tabernacle of David... the historical account of the house of prayer
Upon being crowned king of Israel, David takes a most important step- he reestablishes the Ark of Covenant as the primary object of desire over the kingdom. Instead of the throne of David taking preeminence, the throne of God (in the form of a golden box called the “Ark”) sits as the object of worship and affection. From there, he appoints “ministers before the ark of the LORD, to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel” (1 Chron. 16:4). As their primary occupation, 288 singers and 4,000 musicians called ‘Levites’ (priests), ministered to Him day and night (1 Chron. 15:1-17:27).

Day and night for 33 years, worship and prayer unto Yahweh became the primary expression of the kingdom of David. Zeal for God’s presence had consumed David, as he did everything in his power to establish that ‘resting place’ in his generation- “I will not give sleep to my eyes... until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob” (Ps. 132:4-5). This was the house of prayer!

In light of King David setting up a dwelling place for the Lord, Israel experienced great blessing and prosperity. Seven kings (after David) who adopted “Davidic worship” (with singers and musicians before the ark of covenant) experienced spiritual breakthrough, deliverance, and military victory. The ‘culture’ of worship and prayer that went forth from Jerusalem became a weapon in the hand of God.

Before Jesus returns, all over the earth God will restore the Tabernacle of David (house of prayer) Amos 9:11. This worship and prayer movement is one the promises and preludes to His second coming. In light of this, He is raising up those like David who are after His heart- singers, musicians, intercessors, and messengers who will declare the promises of God through worship, prayer, and intercession.

Just as He did through (Tabernacle of) David, the Lord is going to release a great breakthrough and awakening across the nations of the earth. In the context of the culture of worship and prayer (restored Tabernacle of David; house of prayer), we will see the greatest harvest of souls with citywide transformations, as the bride is being prepared to meet Jesus. (ref. Malachi 1:11)

In light of this, the praying church is arising all across the earth. Joining in with the global (praying) church, I am honored to be part of the greatest outpouring in all of human history.
