More about Operation Survival

A message from the owner: Greetings everyone! First I want to say thank you for visiting our company website and showing an interest in obtaining quality training. I hope you will find the training you are seeking. If not, call or write us and let us know what specific training you would like to receive. We will be happy to conduct an analysis of your suggested topic and possibly develop the curriculum to add to our repertoire or make a recommendation to an affiliate company.
Well, a lot of companies offering similar courses are upset that our prices are so low. It’s not that we don’t offer the same quality of training as they do or even better. It’s that I don’t believe you can become successful by charging extravagant prices. I believe in volume sales. I visited a lot of websites prior to deciding to open this business and what I found was that most of the marketing is intimidating and the training in my opinion is over-priced. They look at my low pricing and say, “you get what you pay for”. But I look at their outrageous pricing and say, “sometimes you don’t!”
When I say that their marketing is intimidating is that they list all of their experience, a lot which has little to do with the courses offered and people tell me that it makes them feel uncomfortable. At Operation Survival, we believe in being humble. As to our experience, well, the “proof is in the pudding” as they say. We believe there is a time and a place for everything. Certainly, when handling any firearm everyone needs to use extreme care and follow all safety rules. We want and you need to respect your instructors. But let’s face it, this isn’t Navy Seal training. All of our instructors are approachable, have a healthy sense of humor and do their best to make you feel comfortable.
Secondly, I want to make sure you understand the effort I have put into this business in making sure each of you is treated with dignity and respect at all times. My primary focus is on you – our customer or even potential customer. I want you to feel satisfied with the service and quality of training you receive for the investment that you make so you keep coming back and recommending us to others.
Sure, it’s important to know that your instructors are qualified to train you so that you get proper instruction. So with that in mind, let me share the applicable experience our current staff has.
I am a licensed Peace officer with certifications as an Instructor, Mental Health Officer, Master Peace Officer and Advanced Jailer with over 3000 hours of Police training. I have been involved in several critical incidents both directly and indirectly. I started my career in 1983 and have served the public in various capacities to include, but not limited to; Patrolman, Undercover Agent, K9 Handler and Instructor, Highway Interdiction Specialist, and Sergeant Investigator. Prior to obtaining my license in Texas, I served as a Board certified Private Security Firearms and Classroom instructor. I have held the ranks of Branch Manager, Training Lieutenant, Patrol Captain, Program Supervisor, as well as other lead positions. Back in the late seventies through the early eighties I studied martial arts under Tommy “Tornado” Williams – former world champion. This tenure has not only provided me with incomparable firsthand experience but serving the public for over 33 years made me understand that you matter most! I believe good or even excellent customer service is not enough. At Operation Survival, we strive to provide “exceptional” customer service.
In short, all of our Instructors have prior or current military and/or police experience. We have carried firearms most of our lives and have acquired valuable knowledge in various disciplines. Each of us are experts in our respective fields with a willingness and ability to share our knowledge.
I share this with you only because I see many companies boasting about their experience without really saying what that experience is. How many years is “years of experience”? Does “former police experience” mean you worked a couple of years as a school resource officer?
I’m being critical because you not only deserve the best training available, but a lot of bad habits you acquire from being trained improperly can take years to correct. More importantly, these bad habits can get you hurt.
In truth, I believe the amount of instruction currently required by the state to carry a firearm is not enough.
Every day there are more and more firearms brought into the mix. It’s scary to think many of the persons carrying these firearms have the wrong attitude, lack responsibility, and have little training. You can understand the potential for disaster.
Our effort is to make you realize that regardless of any requirements, it makes sense to learn as much as you can about every aspect of being armed whether you’re a hobbyist or an avid 2nd Amendment supporter.
Give us an opportunity to help build your confidence by possibly changing your mindset and preparing you physically and mentally as well as emotionally.
Again, thank you for your patronage and I’ll see you on the range!
