Paseo is a signature school of Kansas City Public Schools with a thriving performing arts program that includes, dance, visual arts, fashion design, graphic arts, video production, instrumental and vocal music, technical theater, and drama. Students within the district with an interest in the arts may audition for admission.
The school is located just east of historic Paseo Boulevard near Brush Creek on the site of the original Paseo High School that first enrolled students in 1926. The present building, opened in 1991, offers varying venues for arts presentations in a large theater, a more intimate recital hall, a dramatic "black box," and an art gallery. Spacious art classrooms provide facilities for work with various art media including metal sculpture and ceramics.
Notable almuni include former NBA player Anthony Peeler, actor Robert Lowery and music producer Brian Kennedy.
