The business has been owned and managed by the Pastore family for three generations in the same landmark building. The founder, Mr. Dominick Pastore, established Pastore Music in 1939 and then passed it on to his son, Mr. Robert Pastore, father of the current owner. Gerard “Jerry” Pastore has been at the helm since 1987. He demonstrated deep interest in the business as young as 13 years old. Always hanging around the shop, running errands and generally helping out, he learned the ropes from the bottom up. As time passed, he assumed greater managerial responsibilities and on his 18th birthday, he proposed to buy the business from his father.
Under Jerry’s leadership, Pastore Music has remained at the forefront of modern music. It is a well-known institution to the music profession, serving as a hub for instrument innovation and service. Pastore Music is not limited to the sale of instruments. It is also well-known for in-house luthier, Maestro Ronaldo Orlandoni, of national acclaim. His fine guitars and basses have been played by some of the most accomplished musicians of our day. This renowned clientele includes performers such as; Peter Frampton, John and Edgar Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers and Spyro Gyra, just to name a few. In addition, a state of the art repair shop serves all instruments and electronic equipment.
The most cherished aspect of the business is Pastore Music’s lessons service. Its staff of highly accomplished and accredited music teachers offers unparalleled quality instruction on all instruments. A unique footnote, reflecting its endurance of time, is most of the instructors actually began their own lessons at Pastore Music, before going on to college level studies. A case in point, the principal guitar instructor has been there for 35 years.
The business thrives in the same location since its inception, and has had numerous restorations over the years.
