Patten Academy of Christian Education

Patten Academy of Christian Education is a K-12 Christian school dedicated to serving the intellectual & spiritual needs of students in the Bay Area.

Students:

The Patten Academy school community is representative of the multi-cultural and socio-economically diverse population of the East Bay, embracing the richness of student experience.

The current ethnic composition is as follows:
38% Hispanic, 37% African American, 18.1% Asian, 4.3% white and 2.6% other

Faculty:

Patten Academy’s administration and full and part time faculty members are dedicated to personal professional development and attainment of higher level degrees to better equip themselves in providing quality, innovative instruction to their students.Three have Ph.D’s; two have both credentials and master’s degrees; four have master’s degrees, and four hold bachelor’s degrees with credentials in progress.

Co-Curricular Programs

Music:

Patten Academy offers a robust music program complete with instrumental instruction, orchestras, combos, and handbell and vocal choirs. Small instrumental and vocal groups share music in church and community settings. Many of these groups compete at the local and state level annually. Additionally, students have received recognition and in some cases scholarship monies to universities.

Sports:

In 1989, Patten Academy began its interscholastic sports program and has competed in boys soccer, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, track and field and cross country as a member school of the Bay Area Christian Athletic League. The Patten Academy Bulldogs have produced numerous All-BACAL League players and several Oakland Tribune Athlete of the Week honorees. In the summer of 2015, Patten Academy joined California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) greatly increasing our opportunities in athletic participation.

Accreditations and Memberships:

In 1974, recognizing that growth is essential for maintaining and improving its educational services, PACE applied to the Western Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges for accreditation. After an in-depth study of our educational system, PACE was granted full accreditation K-12 in 1975 which it has held continuously. Our current term runs through 2017.

In 1977, continuing to improve its educational services, PACE joined the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). As an association strongly committed to helping Christian schools in the training of young men and women, ACSI provides a number of educational services which directly benefit administrators, teachers and students.
