A year previously, a competition was opened to Seminole County Public school students that would be attending the school to name the mascot and decide the school colors, giving the school the mascot of the Huskies and the school colors of blue, black and silver. Every year up until the 2008-09 school year, a new grade was added. As of the 2009-2010 school year, the second senior class was in place.
