For over three decades, Stage One has competed in the Massachusetts State Drama Festival, run annually by the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild. In 1970 Father Frank Toste CSC, a PVMHS faculty member, founded Stage One at PVMHS. In January 1994, Mr. Richard Carey was hired to be the new director, while Mrs. June Kessel came on board as Stage One advisor. Both Carey and Kessel continue their roles through the present. The company is highly praised and puts on three shows a year: a fall show, a Festival home show which competes at the METG Drama Festival, and a spring musical.
