More about Peace GAP Ministry

Peace Lutheran Church was established in 1965 and for most of its history offered a
classical style of ministry. In 1998 we decided to expand our ministry by addressing the current needs and styles found in our community. We currently offer two unique styles of worship on Sunday mornings, one classical and one contemporary. Our Sunday morning schedule includes classes for children, youth and adults. Small groups for adults and youth group for middle and high school students meet weekly. Our staff includes a full time pastor, a director of our GAP Ministry and office administrator, and an array of paid and volunteer music leaders, musicians and helpers of all kinds. The church campus has seven buildings: a worship center, a preschool building which by September 19th,
2015 will house our GAP Community Resource Center, a fellowship hall, a youth center, meeting rooms, offices and a staff house. In 2010, we moved our denominational affiliation to Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). This association of congregations matches the focus of our church on building an engaged and engaging community, sharing the love of Christ as Servant-Advocates for our community.

Although a small to mid-sized congregation, ranging from 200-300 members, Peace is still able to make a large impact on the community. In addition to our own programs, like the GAP Ministry and our Food Pantry, which gives out 6-10 thousand pounds of food each month to roughly 700 families, we currently support a variety of organizations with time, resources and space. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Meals-on-Wheels, the Club Esteem Youth Mentoring Program, Palm Bay Garden Club, Never Alone Support Group, Weight Watchers, SteadyFamily, The American Heritage Girls, and the Peace Place for Academic Excellence all meet and share space on our campus. We also support Food for the Poor, Love I.N.C., the Children’s Hunger Project and FIT’s Protestant Campus Ministry. We are also an Access Community Partner with the Department of Children and Families, and are a certified application center for Florida KidCare Health Insurance.
