More about Pearls Rooftop

"A classic neon sign on the Strip and necklaces of pearls by the entryway greet visitors to the 4,000-square-foot restaurant, bar, and entertainment space. Dazzling chandeliers, polished wooden floors, black leather sofas, and a U-shaped bar topped with marble give the ground floor a sophisticated Parisian feel. Ascend a hidden staircase and be transported to a "secret garden" on the mezzanine level, which is complete with antique chairs, lush greenery, and an overall majestic vibe. Or marvel at the view from the tiered front deck with an outdoor fireplace.

A wild salmon glazed with apple and horseradish is already a staple dish. East and West coast oysters & mini spicy lobster rolls make for prime shareable small plates. The lunch menu features an array of inventive salads and sandwiches, which the brunch menu builds on with vegan plates, eggs, frittatas, & more.

Not to be missed are Pearl's crafted cocktails & "lean libations", like watermelon rum mojitos and sweet sunset sangria." - Jasmin Rosemberg, LA Confidential Magazine.

Pearl's story: It was Los Angeles in the 20s, and Pearl arrived with stars in her eyes. This was a time of prohibition and revelry was in short supply. Pearl realized that her calling wasn’t on the screen, rather it was on LA’s social scene, that she was destined to shine.

She opened a perfume and jewelry shop on a barren strip known for its sunset view. A cadenced knock and a whispered code granted entry to a hidden backroom. It was filled with music and decadence, and before long the Sunset Strip was known the world round. Liquor was concealed in perfume bottles, a “Spritzer” held enough for two. If Eve was born of Adam, then Pearl flipped the roles, for here women made the rules. Each stunning and sharp, they held the key to bliss, and their misters were happy to be along for the ride.

Many powerful men tried to woo Pearl, but she couldn’t be tamed. It's said that Duke Ellington invented swing, simply to watch her move. A young Ernest Hemmingway took-up writing just to get her attention. Pearl once said that “settling down with one man wouldn’t be fair to all the others”, and fair she was. Her spell reached all levels. When President Wilson asked her out, she replied “so I’m good enough to date, but not good enough to vote”. Within weeks the 19th amendment was passed, and women’s voices were finally heard.

Pearl’s trail is marked by epic nights, broken hearts and blissful smiles. Today, she continues to serve sinful delights in her upscale den of indulgence on the Sunset Strip. A bar that modern day pleasure seekers simply call, Pearl’s.
