People for People Charter School - PFPCS

• Small School with Individualized Support: PFPCS has an average class size of 20 students per class, making our student / teacher ratio much smaller than other public and charter schools. This allows our faculty to provide students with more one-on-one support when they need it.

• Curriculum: Starting SY 2006-2007 until the present, PFPCS utilizes the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) Core Curriculum for Math, Reading and Science.

• Classroom Resources: PFPCS recently replaced the majority of its classroom resources. PFPCS elementary school utilizes (McGraw Hill) Everyday Math and (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) Storytown. PFPCS middle school uses (Holt) Elements of Literature, (Houghton Mifflin) English, (McDougall Littel) Math, World Cultures & Geography and Creating America. PFPCS Special Education uses Reading Horizons and Saxon Math. For Business and Entrepreneurship, PFPCS uses (National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship) How to Start and Operate a Small Business, (Education, Training & Enterprise Center) New Youth Entrepreneur and Making Money the Old Fashioned Way, and (Junior Achievement) JA Biztown. For PSSA preparation, PFPCS uses Study Island and (Peoples Education) Measuring Up.

• Family Support: PFPCS is an important part of the People for People (PFP) organization. Students, parents and families are welcome and encouraged to participate in any of the other family support and self-sufficiency programs that we provide. PFP cares for children & families!

• Location: Located in the heart of North Central Philadelphia, PFPCS is within walking distance of the Fairmount, Francisville & Girard communities and conveniently located near several SEPTA stops. All PFPCS students are eligible for school bus transportation to and from school. For brief visits or extended stays, temporary parking is available.

• Facilities: The People for People Building is a recently renovated 8 story office building (former Philadelphia Traffic Court Building.) Completely air-conditioned, with new equipment, The View – a banquet / conference center used for school assemblies, and a full-service kitchen, PFPCS students enjoy the benefits of taking classes in state-of-the-art facilities.

• Safe, Secure Community: The PFPCS building is a secure environment with a complement of security staff and monitored video surveillance on every floor and in every space outside our facility.
