More about Phil Fidalgo's Baseball Academy

Phil Fidalgo's Baseball Academy was founded in the summer of 2003. The Academy is conveniently located in Frazer, Pennsylvania and aims to provide quality instruction at a reasonable price.

Phil Fidalgo helped to place Villanova baseball on the map as a pitcher during his college years. More recently, he has taught and coached at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield and Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown. He retired from teaching in 2011.

Phil Fidalgo was one of the all-time Wildcat greats, helping put Villanova baseball on the map. During his career, he accumulated 20 wins, 238 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.71

Phil holds the record for strikeouts in a season (113 in 1960) and ranks among the career leaders in ERA (2), wins (3), and complete games (3). He also is one of only eight pitchers to toss a no-hitter when he held Scranton University hitless in an 9-0 win on April 19, 1960.

What makes his statistics even more impressive is that he amassed these numbers in only 3 years, as freshmen were not able to play varsity sports during his years at the school.

The storied Villanova baseball program holds a special place in his heart. Phil wrote a 794 page book entitled The History of Villanova Baseball. He took his love for playing baseball to the sidelines by coaching Cardinal O'Hara High School for 10 years and Villanova for 10 years with Larry Shane.

In 1982, Phil was inducted into Villanova's Hall of Fame. In 1997, he became the only pitcher in the school's history to have his number retired.
