The Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center was the first practice in the country to integrate hand and upper limb surgery with therapy. This pioneering concept is the standard emulated by universities and surgical practices worldwide. The novel concept was pioneered by Evelyn Mackin, PT and has continued to develop under the guidance of Terri Skirven, OTR/L, CHT.

Several generations of Orthopaedic & Plastic Surgeons as well as Occupational & Physical Therapists have trained as fellows at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center, with notable graduates in academic positions at the Georgetown University, Mayo Clinic, Stanford University, Temple University, University of Connecticut, University of Maryland, and University of Minnesota. In addition, surgical fellows are privileged to study under Drs. Scott Kozin and Dan Zlotolow at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. The surgical and therapy fellowships are both noted among the premier fellowships in the United States known for the quality of training and breadth of experience.

In addition to its international prominence, academic reputation, and remarkable history, the foundation and hallmark of PHSC is the dedication to outstanding patient care. Every element of the practice is committed to delivering the best treatment possible for each patient. It is the core of our history, our present, and our future.
