Pistachio Joes

My family and I have lived in Toledo for the past 13 years. We first lived in the Old West End on Parkwood Ave. We have moved all around Toledo, and I do mean all around. Old Orchard, Ottawa Hills, South Toledo, but there was no place like the OWE! We moved back in 2013 to Scottwood Ave. In November of 2014 the large blue house that was once part of Mary Manse College became available. We closed on the home on New Year's Eve.

The Old West End is Toledo's best kept secret and I can't wait to give back to the community. I first wanted to open an ice cream parlor when we first lived in the OWE. As we moved around Toledo I still kept looking for that right place to open. Never found the right place until l now. It's perfect! But now the work begins.

Not only am I starting a restaurant from scratch because there was not an existing restaurant here, but we are also remodeling a historic home back to its original beauty. Stairway turned and opened; butler pantry no longer a laundry room; hmmm, I'm pretty sure this is where a kitchen should be; painting painting and more painting; eight furnace, you would think one would work!; really, do we have to sand and refinish all the floors?; the list could go on and on.

So, although we bought the house specifically to open an ice cream parlor, be patient OWE. It will happen! I hope by summer 2016 if not, definitely 2017.
