Pittsburgh Fencers East

Pittsburgh Fencers East is a recreational fencing club associated with classes that are taught for the Municipality of Murrysville Recreation Dept.

Fencing instructors Deb and Dave Theriault have each been fencing for 40 plus years, and have been teaching, since 1984, at many locations in and around Pittsburgh, Pa.

Most recently, they've been holding beginner, and intermediate / advanced fencing classes on Tuesday evenings at the Murrysville Community Center, located at 3091 Carson Avenue, in Murrysville, Pa.

Over the years, Deb and Dave have also been involved in many other aspects of the sport including competing in local, regional and national fencing events.

Deb has also fenced in national-level, senior age group ("veteran") competitions held by US Fencing. She currently competes in Veteran 60 - 69 Women's Foil and Veteran 60 - 69 Women's Epee.

Deb represented the United States at the Veteran World Championships that were held in Bath, England, in 2006 (fencing in Vet. 50 - 59 Women's Foil) and again in Krems, Austria, in 2012 (fencing in Vet. 60 - 69 Women's Epee).

In addition to teaching and competing, Deb and Dave have also been involved in running tournaments, officiating, and serving on the Executive Committee (Board of Directors) of the Western Pa. Division of the US Fencing Association, which is the governing body of the sport and associated with the US Olympic Committee.
