The National Council of Negro Women Rankin/Mon Valley Section has great history. Founded by Mary McLeod Bethune The National Council of Negro Women aims to empower, educate, and improve the lives of African American Women. Rankin resident Dorothy Height was the president of NCNW for over 40 years. She focused on issues like unemployment, illiteracy, and voter awareness. It is our honor to continue the legacy of Dorothy Height and Mary McLeoad Bethune by keeping their spirit alive.
