More about Pizza al Taglio at Buffalo Iron Works

Pizza Al Taglio at Buffalo Iron Works

Our Story:
Pizza al Taglio, a kitchen featuring the original Roman pan pizza, is coming to Buffalo Iron Works. It’s named after the large focaccia style pies baked in full sheet pans in street side shops and cut “al taglio” into single serving squares. Our pizza is made from focaccia dough that is sourced from Di Camillo’s Bakery in Williamsville. It contains no sugar, shortening or preservatives. Our changing varieties of pizza are topped with fresh seasonal vegetables and top quality meats and seafood.

Pizza al taglio is a perfect food fit for Buffalo Iron Works. The rectangular pizza shape makes it easier to order, serve and eat during a live music concert or before/after events next door at Key Bank Center. It is also an affordable treat. Each slice is $3. Two slices are $5 and three slices (that’s a lot!) go for $7.

Patrons will find the standard Margherita (tomato sauce & mozzarella) and Americano (tomato sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni), as well as pizza featuring fresh Roma tomatoes, homemade basil pesto, zucchini, sausage, mushrooms, broccoli, arugula, eggplant, bacon, chicken, steak and more.

About our Chefs:
Chef Carolyn Lesniak & Chef Andrea Zaramella are the masters in the kitchen bringing Pizza al taglio to life at Buffalo Iron Works.

Chef Lesniak hails from Syracuse and has spent the last few years plying her craft baking from scratch with locally sourced products at Globe Market, a Buffalo café and bakery. Carolyn understands the importance the local movement and will source meat and produce products from Buffalo’s finest purveyors.

Chef Zaramella is originally from San Vendemaino, Italy, a small town thirty minutes outside of Venice. While growing up in Italy Andrea took countless trips to Rome and has sampled pizza al taglio from every quarter of the city. Andrea honed his cooking skills in his native country where cooking with local ingredients is less a style and more a way of life. Since moving to Buffalo Andrea has worked as a pizza chef. He will now bring his talents – and his recipes – to Pizza al Taglio.

Where to find us:
Pizza al taglio will be located inside Buffalo Iron Works in Buffalo’s historic Cobblestone District (49 Illinois Street, Buffalo, NY 14203) immediately adjacent to the Key Bank Center and Canalside. The kitchen will be open during all Buffalo Iron Works business hours and will stay open before, during and after all concerts and events.
