Pizzino on Wydown is the creation of Jim Zimmerman who has spent the last 5 years fine tuning his approach to pizza. Jim grew up in a family wholesale food supply business that served bakery and various food-service operations across much of the United States. Because of his travels for work, as well as yearly trips to Italy to visit family, he had many opportunities to experience food presentation and preparation at its best. In the mid 1990's Jim started experimenting with a type of pizza that was produced on an open grill with a cracker style crust. Over the years he perfected the technique and regularly produced top quality and exceptionally tasty pizza for large gatherings of friends and family.

The Inspiration:

Pizzino Owner, Jim Zimmerman, has found himself fortunate enough to travel with his wife and family to many places, but there was one city in Italy they returned to year after year. Forte Dei Marmi is a small beach town in Tuscany that captured not only his family's heart but its taste buds. Pizzino pizzas and focaccias are not only inspired by the town's simple but flavorful cuisine but the places that make it special.

The Pizza:

Pizza from Pizzino comes in two different distinct styles. One of the offerings, Pizza al Taglio, is a reflection of the pizza by the slice that is served, ready to go, in many places around Italy. This pizza is baked on a focaccia style crust and dressed with simple yet great tasting toppings and produced in our stone oven. You can order a slice and eat in house or on the run. The other pizza uses a cracker style crust produced on a grill before being topped with the unique combination of ingredients offered at Pizzino on Wydown. This individually sized pizza is perfect for lunch or dinner and is fired in our oven at 650 degrees for about three minutes which finishes the bake of the shell and brings the flavors of the toppings together for optimal eating enjoyment.
