My father, David B. Yarbrough, was an architect, designer and painter, a maker of stained glass, leather bound journals, and hand stamped papers. Almost everything he created was done by hand. David believed in the connection of the head, the hand and the heart. For over fifty years, he left his clean, contemporary and unique mark on all facets of his work.
Sacred Geometry became more than a fascination in the latter 15 years of David’s life and travels. And so, it came to be that his work was a reflection of his love of mathematics, and the form and language that it spoke. Sacred
Geometric form speaks to the heart, whether one understands its workings or not. It is a universal language.
Plane and Sacred was created in 2007, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The company is still based here. The company was created through the gifting of twenty or so of David's original images, to me: Judy. All images included a specific text, carefully chosen for that design.
After a great run utilizing these designs on silkscreen shirts, prayer flags, and tote bags, Plane and Sacred has moved into a new incarnation. It is thrilling to me, after several years of planning, to present my line of jewelry with these designs using fine metals and beautiful leathers. Each piece of jewelry corresponds to its first image and title. No two pieces will ever be exactly the same, as they are all handcrafted by our master jeweler. I also have a new partner and marketing director, Lesley Michaels.
It is my hope that my father's legacy to me and to the world will continue to be felt by those who wear the jewelry, and in the hearts of everyone who sees them. This intent is how Plane and Sacred designs came to be – thousands of years ago – in temples, homes, and paths around the world.
