Daily Activities

Play is learning and children's work! Almost everything that children learn during their first six years of life is learned through play. Children have a profound need to play, climb and run, use their imagination, test themselves and challenge those around them. They need to enjoy themselves! Play develops their skills, teaches them how to relate to their peers and helps develop their own personality. Your child's day will consist of one or more of the following: circle time with stories and song, use of materials that encourage creativity and imaginary play, learning play with ABC's, colors, patterns, objects and numbers, use of large and small muscles, development of language skills, active and quiet play and outdoor activity pending the weather. My goal is to prepare children for Kindergarten at a pace they can achieve and are developmentally ready for. Many times the toddlers are learning from watching and listening to the preschoolers being taught. Children learn at a much earlier age than was first thought. I use Leap Frog DVD's as a visual teaching aid and a lot of their resources for hands on writing and learning skills. We read stories and appropriate nursery rhymes daily. I believe in reading to children as early as possible because a child who is read to early reads early and develops a love for reading.
