Pnoe-USA: Friends of Children in Intensive Care

In 2012, Pnoe-USA was incorporated as a public charity in New Jersey. Its primary mission is to support the work of Pnoe, a Greek charitable organization dedicated to children in intensive care. Pnoe-USA also aims to help children and their families in times of crisis. In 2014 Pnoe-USA was granted federal tax-exempt status under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Pnoe-Greece was founded in 1991 by a dedicated group of parents and pediatricians who had experienced at first hand the lack of first-rate pediatric intensive care in Greece. Fine doctors and nurses struggled with inadequate space and equipment due to the chronic shortage of state funds.

*Constructs pediatric Intensive Care Units in state and university hospitals;
*Donates medical equipment to neonatal and pediatric intensive care units;
*Aids parents and families while their children are in intensive care;
*Supports follow-up care and counselling for children after they exit the hospital;
*Sponsors continuing educational opportunities in pediatric intensive care for specialized medical and nursing staff;
*Since 1996 offers training for the general public in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.

By 2014, Pnoe had spearheaded the building, and/or renovation, and/or supplying of 21 neonatal and pediatric intensive care units in state and university hospital in eight cities throughout Greece.

Pnoe is supported entirely by contributions from individuals, foundations, and companies. It is incorporated as a charitable, non-profit organization according to Greek law, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and professionally staffed.

Pnoe-USA is entirely volunteer-driven, with no office or staff. Legal advice is donated by Stark & Stark, Princeton, New Jersey.
