{Poem88}

{Poem88} opened in October 2010 in the White Provision District on Atlanta's Westside. Under the curatorial direction of artist, writer and filmmaker Robin Bernat, {Poem88} represents emerging and mid-career artists, and presents thoughtful and innovative explorations in a new artistic frontier.

The core group of artists who initially signed on were former students at the Atlanta College of Art, thus, in many respects {Poem88} speaks to the legacy of that school. The curatorial focus is consistent with the philosophy of a handful of professors there who emphasized the necessity for both a solid conceptual framework and excellence of execution in art-making.

Our distinguished artists work in both traditional and non-traditional formats including painting, drawing, photography, installation, and experimental filmmaking. Our artists' work is included in prominent museum and private collections and important publications. Further, each artist represented at {Poem88} is actively engaged in the larger art communities where they live: as educators, writers, designers and lecturers.

We promote and pursue intriguing collaborations in all creative disciplines; we present musical performances, literary readings, and film screenings; finally, we especially encourage discourse on contemporary art and art-making.
